Privacy policy
Last updated August 25, 2026
This policy describes what SkillBridge Central collects, why, and what you can do about it. It describes the product as it actually works today, not as we plan for it to work. When the product changes, this page changes with it.
SkillBridge Central is operated by SkillBridge Central LLC. We are a private company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the U.S. Department of Defense or any branch of the U.S. military.
What we collect
When you create an account
- A personal email address. We ask for a personal address rather than a military one so your account still works after you separate.
- A password. Stored hashed by our authentication provider. We never see it.
- Your military email address, used once to confirm you are a service member. We send a code to it and check that you received it.
On your profile, all of it optional
- Your name
- Branch, rank or rate, and occupational code (MOS, rating, or AFSC)
- Your approved separation date and SkillBridge start date
- Where you live now, where you would like to work, and whether you would relocate or work remotely
- Fields of work you are interested in
If you cannot reach your military email
You can ask for a manual review instead. That form collects your branch, rank or rate, unit, separation date, and why you cannot use your military email, plus anything else you choose to write. A person reads it.
When you join the waitlist
The signup form takes your email address, and optionally whether you are a service member or an employer. To stop one machine from submitting thousands of fake signups, we also count how many submissions arrive from a given network in an hour.
We do that without keeping your IP address. The address is converted into a scrambled value using a secret key, and only that value is stored. It cannot be turned back into an address, and it is different on every part of the site, so the records cannot be joined together to reconstruct where you went. The whole log is deleted after a day.
What we never ask for
We do not ask for your Social Security number, EDIPI, DoD ID number, or any government identifier, and we never will. We do not connect to milConnect or any Department of Defense identity system. If anyone claiming to be us asks you for those, it is not us.
Who else sees your data
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with data brokers or advertisers. There is no advertising on this site.
These companies process data on our behalf in order to run the service:
| Who | What they handle |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Our database and login system. Everything you enter is stored there. |
| Vercel | Hosting. Handles requests to the site, including your IP address. |
| Sentry | Error reporting. When something breaks, Sentry receives the error and which page it happened on. We turn off the settings that would send your email address, your cookies or your IP with it, and we strip email addresses out of error text before it leaves. Your account ID, which is a random string, may be attached so we can tell one person hitting a problem fifty times from fifty people hitting it once. Sentry does work out an approximate location from the connection, at the level of a city and state, and records it with the error. We have turned off everything we can find that controls this and it still happens, so we are telling you rather than leaving it out. It is not your address, and we cannot see your IP. |
| Resend, and Amazon SES underneath it | Sending email. Receives your email address and the contents of the messages we send you. |
| Location suggestions. See below. This is the only place your typed input leaves our systems as you type. |
People who work here
SkillBridge Central staff can see what you have entered. That is not a loophole, it is how the service runs: somebody has to read a manual review request to decide it, look at an organization to work out whether it is authorized, and answer you when something goes wrong. Today that is one person, the owner.
We hold ourselves to three things about it. We look when there is a reason to, not out of curiosity. Every time a member of staff opens your record, we write down who did and when. And the two most sensitive things we hold, your military email address and anything you wrote to an employer in an application, are hidden by default even from us: our own tools show the domain of your address rather than the address, and a member of staff has to deliberately ask to see the rest, which is recorded separately.
That internal record is about our staff rather than about you, so it is not included in the data you can download. If you want to know whether anyone here has looked at your record, ask us and we will tell you.
About the location field
When you type into the current location field on your profile, we first search a list of United States places published by the U.S. Census Bureau. That list lives on our own servers and nothing leaves them.
If that list has no match, which in practice means you are stationed outside the United States, we send what you typed to Google's Places service to get suggestions. Google receives the text you typed and our server's request, not your name or your account. Your preferred work locations never involve Google at all.
Your military email address
We store your military email address so we can show you which address you verified with, and so we can re-confirm your service membership once a year.
It is encrypted before it is stored, with a key that is not kept in the database. A copy of our database, on its own, does not reveal anyone’s military email address. The encryption is tied to your specific account, so a stored value cannot be moved onto someone else’s profile and read there.
Two consequences worth being straight about. We can still read it when we show it back to you or put it in your data export, because our servers hold the key. And we cannot search for an account by military email address, which is the trade that makes the protection real.
It is never shown to employers.
Cookies
We use cookies only to keep you signed in. We have no analytics, no advertising trackers, and no third-party scripts. There is nothing to opt out of, which is why you have not seen a cookie banner. If that ever changes, you will be asked first, and nothing non-essential will run before you say yes.
The full cookie list is here →
How long we keep things
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Your account and profile | Until you delete it |
| Verification codes sent to your military email | Minutes. Deleted once used or expired |
| Manual review requests | Kept while your account exists, as the record of why you were verified |
| Records of verification decisions | Kept permanently, with your name removed if you delete your account |
| Waitlist email addresses | Until launch, or until you ask us to remove yours |
| The scrambled network values used to stop signup floods | 24 hours |
| Error reports | 90 days, then deleted by Sentry |
Your rights
We apply the same rights to everyone, everywhere, rather than only to people covered by a particular law:
- See what we have. Ask us and we will send you everything we hold about you.
- Correct it. Every profile field is editable by you at any time.
- Delete it. Ask and we will delete your account. We aim to do it within 30 days and will tell you if something legally prevents us.
- Take it with you. The copy we send you is structured so another service can read it.
- Object. Tell us you object to something we do with your data and we will answer you, not ignore you.
Downloading your data and deleting your account are both self-serve, on your data settings page. The download is immediate and the deletion is immediate. For anything else, email support@skillbridgecentral.com and a person will handle it.
Data about people who are not our users
We keep a copy of the public Department of Defense SkillBridge provider directory, which includes contact details that the Department publishes for participating employers. We use it only to check whether an employer is authorized. We do not use it for marketing and we do not republish it.
Children
This service is for serving members of the U.S. armed forces and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
If something goes wrong
If we discover a breach affecting your personal information, we will tell affected users without undue delay and within 72 hours of confirming it, and we will tell you what happened rather than the smallest thing we are permitted to say.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top. For changes that affect what we collect or who receives it, we will email registered users rather than relying on you to re-read the page.
